Why Did Job Suffer?, Frances Chu

The sufferings described in the book of Job leave us with a crucial question of two parts: What was the purpose of God in His creating of man, and what is the purpose of God in His dealing with His chosen people?

The great answer to this question was found in a book titled, Life-Study of Job, written by Witness Lee. In this book, Witness Lee says the purpose of God's dealing with His lovers, even in the way of loss, is that they may gain Him to the fullest extent, that He might be expressed through them for the fulfillment of His eternal purpose in His creation of man.” The statement made here by Witness Lee was based on Ephesians 3:9, Genesis 1:26, Romans 8:28-29; 2 Corinthians 4:16.

The New Testament Recovery version footnotes, written by Witness Lee, help me to have proper understanding concerning “all things,” that happen to us. Our concept of all things working together for good (Romans 8:28), might be in a physical sphere--an outward, material blessing. Witness Lee in his footnotes says, “According to the context, the good here is not related to physical persons, matters, or things. It refers to our gaining more of Christ, to our having Him wrought into our being that we may be transformed metabolically and may eventually be conformed to His image, the image of the Son of God (v.29), that is, that we may be brought into the full sonship.

I'm so appreciative of Witness Lee's ministry. His writings always lead me to know God in a deeper way. Every day, as I contact the Lord in my spirit, the Lord is so near and real to me. Through Witness Lee's ministry, I not only know the mystery of the universe, but also the meaning of my human existence.
